Great pictures of Purvis Street School and students. Picture #2 however is of Lillies Schoo studentsl. My Dad, Harvey Vickery and his sisters Ellen and Maydalene only went to Lillies School.

These are amazing!! It is wonderful to have these photos and chronological documentation of the years Purvis Street school was open. It’s so rewarding to scroll through and view the photos while bearing in mind that these were/are vital members of this community. Thank you to whoever did all this compilation and posting!

How nice that you included Purvis Street School in your website. I have never seen most ofthese pictures before and include family members and neighbours from a long time ago.

I believe that picture #14 is Myrtle Bellamy Johnson. Maybe someone else will reply to this also.

            Hi John
I’ve been reviewing pictures after my brother Allen Purvis passed on May 14th.
I’m noting that picture #18, Allen was in back row(the tallest), picture #23, 1958: back row was Harry Purvis & Allen Purvis(left to right),
Picture #24, back row, 2nd from left(tallest with glasses) is Allen Purvis.
Thanks again for all your work recording these school records.
Also, picture # 21, 1957 Janet Purvis, visiting school not teacher.
Picture #22, Diana Purvis who graduated in 1957.

Thanks again. I’ve so enjoyed reviewing theses pictures.

An excellent compilation of pictures and history on the Purvis Street School. Loved viewing these and imagining what it was like in those precious one room schools. Thank you for posting. Treasures from our past!!!!!
